Shahid Kapoor Blames His Arrogance To His Relation With Kareena Kapoor
Shahid Kapoor says that during his four and a half year relationship with Kareena Kapoor he was so committed that he withdrew into a shell, coming through as arrogant to his co-stars.
The Teri Meri Kahaani star opened up about his relationship with Kareena Kapoor for the first time in an interview with the HT.
Asked as to why his co-stars felt he was unfriendly and arrogant during that period, Shahid said, "I blame it on my being a great boyfriend. I was in a four and a half year old relationship and was very committed. I did not find any reason nor did I have the time to socialize or make friends otherwise."
Shahid then joked, "Now I have learnt better. And I shall not be the most wonderful boyfriend."
Asked if he regretted his relationship with Kareena, Shahid said, "I don't look back. I am happy the way things happened and the way things are now. I am in very good space. That's all that matters."
Recounting his early years in the film industry, Shahid, whose debut film Ishq Vishk (2003) became a box-office hit and won him a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut, said that being shy and introverted it was difficult for him to handle so much fame at such young age of 22.
"If that wasn't enough I got into a serious, very public relationship. Fame hit me suddenly."
His shyness notwithstanding, Shahid acknowledges being romantically linked with all his leading ladies since his break up with Kareena, but has no clue why?
"...I haven't been in a serious relationship in the last two years," he told HT categorically.
He also cleared the air on reports that he had called Vidya Balan, his Kismat Konnection (2008) co-star and once rumored girlfriend, fat.
"I have to get this straight today. I never, never called her fat."
He says he does not know where it came from.
"I am far too cultured to be disrespectful to a woman. I wouldn't and I didn't."
On reports that he was at Priyanka Chopra's house in shorts on the night of the IT raid, Shahid explained that Priyanka and he are neighbors and friends. When the raid started, Priyanka was away and requested him to visit her house and see what is going on.
"...and I went. And I was in my shorts and T-shirt. Something that I was wearing at home. What was I expected to do? Change into my best suit and welcome the IT guys?"
"For heaven's sake, why did the shorts become such a big deal? I wasn't standing there naked!"
